They’re Home!

by | Uncategorized

Part of the Hobbs Crew spent 5 days at church camp and loved it! It was Randa and Alex’s first time going and so they were very nervous. Bella has gone a couple of times and this was Sam’s first time as a teen leader.

I have to admit packing for 4 kiddos felt extremely overwhelming at first. Finally, I had them line their suitcases up and we just went down the list line by line. We couldn’t move onto the next item until everyone had put the current item in their suitcase. It worked, nobody forgot anything! Until we got home… Apparently, we have some things at the church still.

The day they left our day started at 5:44 am. I got the one-minute warning from Randa right before the alarm went off. They were excited and nervous about their adventure and so everyone was ready to go 15 minutes early. Saying goodbye was so much harder for me this year because I guess I was sending so many of them.

We decided to cheer up the three kiddos left behind with some pancakes! When we arrived at the restaurant, I scanned the dining room out of habit to see if they had enough seats for us. Then I remembered there were only five of us! It hasn’t been that way in years!

CrewTip: The Concept Behind My Crazy

I made the kiddos daily gifts for them to open every day while they are gone. Each brown paper bag had a note, candy bar, and a drink. It lets them know we are thinking about them!

“Hope your week at camp is full of Snickers and tons of fun! We love you!
It’s kind of quiet here at home because we miss all your Twix! Have a wonderful time today!
The Three Muskateers miss you and can’t wait for you to come home!

Things I learned this week:

Nikki doesn’t sleep well when her sisters are gone. She landed on the floor in our room a couple of times this week. On a side note, she had a terrible dream starring a red bee and a blue bee. The blue bee said to her “I eat ham!” She was very upset by this until I reminded her she would be okay… She was not ham.

I didn’t cook differently so I have a ton of leftovers! We are eating them up tomorrow. No cooking for me!

I had to scrounge for dishes to fill up the dishwasher. Normally, I need to run it twice a day!

I am called to be a mama to seven because the quiet drove me crazy! I also figured out this week, having seven kiddos motivates me to make a plan and stick to it. I am a more intentional parent because we have a large family. God always knows what we need!
