How in the world do they go together?
Lately, the Hobbs Crew has been dealing with feelings of fear and anxiety. I’ve been really praying about how to teach my kiddos to cope with the fear of the unknown and God gave us this opportunity while we are studying President Grant.
Fear and anxiety are tough subjects for me to talk about because sometimes I have a hard time coping with it myself. I will say through our years of fostering we have learned to address the subject directly. Our children’s fears sometimes seem small but other times (especially in foster care) they are very big and real. The antidote for fear and anxiety is to trust in God but how do we teach our children that? I love to teach these characteristics alongside history and President Grant offered the perfect example when he was leading his first battle of the civil war. So I nabbed the opportunity for a lesson and ran with it. Check out the YouTube video below to see how I taught it.

Teaching these types of lessons builds a foundation for those moments when one of our kiddos is feeling scared. I can take them back to what we talked about and remind them that the only antidote for fear is to trust in God.
